Considered as a leading registered cultural organisation of NorthEast India, Kalabhumi has become a vibrant centre for multi-faceted cultural activities in terms of dance, music and other performing arts over the years (check kalabhumi). The existing Kalabhumi complex built temporarily in the heart of the city of Guwahati, India in 1985 has not been able to provide adequate performance / rehearsal space, audio-visual studio, art gallery cum archives, library facilities and other essential support to cope up with the growing demands of its arts activities. In absence of any Government or private funds or grants, Kalabhumi is finding extremely difficult to run such a cultural organisation with its own limited resources.
