KALABHUMI
- Kalabhumi, Guwahati a leading cultural organisation of north-east
India, is a registered institution established in 1982 in order to promote
the cause of art, dance, music, drama, film, literature and continuing education
and similar objects conforming to rich Indian culture and heritage. Kalabhumi
is run by nationally acclaimed dancers Indira P.P.Bora and Menaka
P.P.Bora and cultural activist P.P.Bora. It has luminaries of
scholars and artists of India like Dr. Kapila Vatsyayan, Dr. Bhupen Hazarika,
Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, V.P.Dhananjayan and Dr. Sunil Kothari as patrons.
- Amongst other objectives, Kalabhumi imparts training on Indian
classical dance forms like Bharata Natyam, Sattriya besides music,
art/painting and folk dances to average 500 students every
year of various age groups.
