INDIRA
P.P. BORA AND RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT OF SATTRIYA DANCE:
In 1985, Sattriya dance was familiarised with American
and British audiences by Indira & Menaka through a series of dance
performances, workshops and television documentation. Her Sattriya dance
works have been preserved in the form of video documentation in the
dance library and laboratory of famous Lincoln Center for performing
Arts in New York, world's largest cultural complex. In 2000, the dance
tour entitled "Sattriya dance from Luhit to Thames and Mississippi"
by Indira & Menaka embraced new audiences in USA and UK and has
induced many Indian and Western dance enthusiasts to learn the art form and
create widespread awareness about Assam's greatest living cultural tradition.
In 2002 Sattriya was been exposed to mainstream British and South-Asian
dance platforms in London and Leicester City Museums Festival by Menaka &
Indira.
